Head Coach - Michael Tongg

The administration of ML King High school and Athletic Director Amanda Chann are excited to announce the next Boys Volleyball Head Coach, Michael Tongg.

Michael Tongg was born and raised in Hawaii, graduing from Hawaii Baptist Academy. It was there that his volleyball journey began.  He played three years in high school, then moved to the continent for college where he enrolled at Cal Baptist University, (CBU) majoring in Kinesiology and later earning a MS degree in Pedagogy.

CBU didn’t have a mens’ volleyball team on campus until his senior year so he played for two years on the university’s club team.

His coaching career began at Poly High school in 2004 and then moved over to Ramona High School in 2005 where he held the varsity girls head coach position until 2018.  From 2015-2018 he doubled as the boys head varsity coach as well for the Rams.  During the Fall, he is assisting Coach Sondra Lough with the girls volleyball program.

He is a full time Physical Education teacher at Riverside Virtual School.

Tongg is married and has three kids. He enjoys surfing, running, triathlons, golfing and any thing outdoors he can enjoy with family and friends
